The Mon is the heraldic symbol of Japan, similar to the medieval Europe family crest. It was used to identify aristocratic families on the battle field, as decoration on garments, and to distinguish clan membership for troops.
The Musashi Oda Mon katana features the Mon of the Oda clan. The most famous member of the Oda clan was Oda Nobunaga.The Musashi Oda Mon katana’s blade has been handmade from through hardened high carbon steel and is full tang and very sharp.
The saya is wooden with a matte black finish and black cotton sageo. The koiguchi is blackened steel with waves. The crest of the Oda clan has been carved into the wood of the saya.
The habaki is a one piece brass construction and the tsuba is black steel with a sukashi mon of the Oda family.
The double pegged tsuka features imitation ray skin samegawa, black cotton ito and two bamboo mekugi. This is a well built sword and is a great value in this price range.38.5 inches overall
