| The Katsujinken ( Life Giving Sword ) was
designed for use in cutting traditional Tatami Mat and
Bamboo targets. This is a sword that is hand made in the
Traditional San Mai Lamination method for performance

in a very unique, but popular mantis and blossom pattern.

has a wide thick blade with a large tang to have better
balance for cutting and general sword practice. The Tang
is Signed with the signature of the smith that made it

These blades ARE the genuine article; real, battle
ready weapons that you can bet your life on.
The sword Keeps with the "samurai standard"
that today is used to define blades used in competitions
in the US and Japan. The Katsujinken was made to have
the performance and quality that you can trust to stay
with you a lifetime.
The mounts of the blade keep perfectly with the
demands of tradition and performance in a competiton.
A wrap of black silk and a full wrap of rayskin under
it for stability of the sword. Silk is better gripping
and longer lasting than cotton. A full wrap of rayskin
limits how much dirt, grit, and moisture can get to the
wood in the handle for superior longevity.
So the full wrap extends the life of the sword.
The Sheath is traditionally made with an aged wood and
lacquered with 4-6 coats of tradtional black lacquer for
a perfect finish.

Each sword blade is hand forged, two layers of
steel with one layer of high carbon steel laminated in
middle. Differential hardened with application of clay,
water quenched and polished.
The middle layer is exposed and hardened as blade
edge, the blade is supported by two steels laminated on
two sides.
Please note : The default polish
is a miror polish that does not show as much hamon detail.
